Caught being kind..

I love 'catching' my students being kind to one another when they're unaware that someone is watching!  

Dot to dots going all the way to 100 can be a little tricky..  Here, one of my students is helping the other when he gets stuck and is unsure of what number comes next!

One part + another part = ....

We have been working hard on learning an reviewing all kinds of addition problems.  The students have become very good at recognizing the need to add two parts together in order to get the "whole!"  We have also been talking about the different names we can use for the "whole" (ie. total, in all, or sum).

The students love being able to work/collaborate with partners!

Kindness Buddies

This year, school wide, we are really focussing on kindness.  Each classroom has partnered up with another classroom in the school to be 'kindness buddies' with.  We are partnered with Mrs. Timmons 5th grade class, and we were pleasantly surprised when they dropped off a sweet treat, along with some encouraging words for the new school year!

Thank you to our sweet friends in Mrs. Timmons' class.  This gesture surely put a big smile on a certain group of 1st graders!

We are off to a GREAT year!  :-) 

Attention:

Beginning Monday, June 8,  Pontiac Elementary will be opened Mondays-Thursdays and closed on Fridays.  Our office hours will be 8:00 am-4:00 pm.  We will resume our normal schedule beginning Monday, August 3  Our Back to School Night will be held on Monday, August 17 at 5:00 pm and our first day of school will be Wednesday, August 19.  Have a wonderful and safe summer.

Marble Slab Fundraiser

Today, our Marble Slab Fundraiser kicked off!  All students have received a packet that includes information about our fundraiser and the order form and prize sheet.

As students sell Marble Slab items, they should collect the money in advance.  All orders are due by Friday, May 1.  

On May 11, students will receive vouchers to provide to all of those friends and family that ordered the Marble Slab items.  These individuals can redeem the vouchers at their convenience.  They are good for one full year.  Students will also receive their prizes at this time.

The fundraiser proceeds will support the purchase of a digital sign in our car rider line.
